Hydara Fabrics has been in business for over 15 years. Where and How have we started? Continue reading to find out.
Before we had a physical location, founder Mohamed Hydara traveled to several countries and cities in Europe and Asia, including London, Thailand, Hong-Kong, Switzerland, to purchase merchandise for reselling. With the help of his wife, they traveled to the homes of their customers to showcase their products. Or their customers sometimes came to their house.
In 2001, Hydara Fabrics opened its first store location on Grand Concourse and 182nd street in the Bronx. A few years later, it moved to 182nd and Valentine, before coming to its current location at 184th street and Grand Concourse.
Earlier this year, Hydara Fabrics decided to create an online presence in order to serve customers outside of the Bronx and New York City. Mr. Hydara sought the help of his eldest daughter, Fatuma, to start up and maintain the online website. As a recent college graduate and current teacher, she used her technological skills to aid the family business.
Now, Hydara Fabrics is looking forward to continuing to serve both old and new customers as the number one place for affordable, African fashions.
